I inherited my knitting craze from my grandmothers. Both were avid knitters, and maybe that's why my love for knitting is doubly strong. My father's mother always had chests full of patterned mittens, and my mother's mother adorned herself with brightly knitted red jackets. In my workshop, a place of honour is given to a more than a hundred-year-old hand-crocheted blanket, which I inherited from my great-grandmother.
I have always liked to dress up. Especially during difficult times when it feels like I've fallen into yet another pit that life has dug, and I have no strength left for anything. Dressing up becomes a survival mechanism: I need a beautiful dress and a lipstick, then I can start climbing out of the pit. Once I've climbed out, I have to dress up again to celebrate life!
Similarly, with my knits, I dress up ladies and sometimes gentlemen. It is a true satisfaction to be part of a process where a woman stands in front of a mirror and feels beautiful wearing one of my creations. By dressing up, a woman shows respect and love for herself - it gives her the strength to climb out of the pits and the wings to rise to the skies of joy. Moreover, knitted "wings" will always keep you warm, which is useful in Latvia even in the summer.
Let's dress up and spread joy! I will enjoy knitting, and you - wearing!
